Lid & Lashes Abnormalities
Involutional Entropion

  • Clinical features:
    • Symptoms: corneal irritation and photophobia.
    • Signs:
      • Inversion of the eyelid margin towards the globe commonly associated with continuous rubbing of the conjunctiva and cornea by the eyelashes
      • Can occur in either upper or lower lid
      • May be complicated with corneal abrasion, ulceration, infection and perforation
  • Management: treat the corneal problem, temporary taping of the eyelid or definitive surgical procedures especially for involutional (horizontal lower lid laxity) and cicatricial entropion.
