Continuous Circular Capsulorhexis

The most commonly performed technique to create an anterior capsule opening during cataract surgery.
Advantages:
- Provides a better structural integrity of the capsular bag.
- More resistant to peripheral extension during nucleus manipulation, cortical removal and IOL implantation compared to classic can-opener capsulorhexis.
In adults with disrupted zonules or after trauma in any age group, significant contraction of the capsule may occur along the edge of the tear a few months postoperatively.
Capsulorhexis with too small a diameter may be complicated with purse string contraction of the anterior capsule, which can be released using the Nd:YAG laser.
